Hi,

I have a Punto HGT Y reg, and at the top of the windscreen above the mirror there is a facia that has what looks like two alarm sensors, one at either side but is then blank in the middle, leaving room for something! What I don't know....

Does anyone know what goes in, or can go in to it?

Also, my remote central locking is activated / deactivated using the key fob. The indicators flash but no beep is heard.

Is there meant to be? And how can I tell (silly question I'm sure) if I do have an alarm lol

Alarm is easy - remote lock the car then open a door with the key.

My 2001/Y HGT recently lost its alarm beep on locking/unlocking. For now I've put it down to the cold causing a relay to stick. The main battery is a heavy duty & quite new so unlikely to be the cause. Next time I use it I'll check that area of the roof lining.

If I think on tomorrow I'll take a quick pic. Its positioned behind the light (towards the windscreen)... so if you like its in between the light and the mirror / Satnav receiver.

Are you saying if i remote lock it, and then open with a key it should set off the alarm?

I think it has one, because locking with the fob flashes the indicators and then the red alarm light on the dash flashes on and off while the car is stationary and locked. And as above, there are 2 sensors positioned at each side of that blank facia in the headliner.

The lack of beep is making me wonder is the alarm working at all.

I'm just gonna set the alarm, and maybe leave a window open and then go mental and see if the alarm goes off. So your sunroof controls are in that facia dave?

Leave your window down, lock the car, open it by reaching through and pulling the door pin up should set the alarm off. If there is no beep when unlocking/locking then I doubt it will sound when you do that.

To get the siren working again try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, this has worked twice for me and a couple of other people.

Tested the alarm today. Locked the car with the window open and then opened the door by placing my arm through the window.

The indicators started flashing and so it certainly sensed I was there and tampering with it. However, no alarm sounded. Ive looked under the bonnet to see if I could see a siren of some sort and nothing obvious is there.

Does it make sense that it wouldnt have the siren. Or could it be there and located where I cant see it, and its broken?

Well heres an update.... I do have a siren under the bonnet, and its a meta one. Its connected. Any ideas how to troubleshoot the thing
