What is the small black lip under the car for? It's about 2 maybe 3 inches tall and is positioned inbetween the wheels and front bumper? Maybe inline with the wheels? It stretches the entire width of the car... I noticed it today when I had to reverse off of a kerb and herd a scraping noise. As soon as I got home I checked what it was and it seems to have a small chip on it, not bothered about it but if it happens again and cracks or something I'd maybe like to replace it, depending on what it's for. It's a 2008 1.2L Grande Punto, just incase it's model specific?

It's just a protective spoiler sort of thing. So that scrapes on kerbs instead of the engine bay

Aerodynamics and looks, it doesn't offer any protection to anything as it'll just bend out of the way or rip off.

But you can't see it unless you get right down and it doesnt seem very aerodynamical as it sticks right down, if anything that would have a negative impact? This is right underneath the car...

As most easterly said, it is an aerodynamic aid. Nearly all cars have something similar.

Haha sweet mines hopefully going on her coils next weekend loving the pics on instagram Btw ;)

Sweet. Look forward to seeing that.

haha. I had noticed :) Much easier to post on there. Think I'll post them all on my thread soon.

I do need a new one of these black lips though. All torn one end but hey, you cant see it ....

Mines split on one side the joys of running 15" low pros while being lowered 40mm

I can't wait to get them on thinking of a roof rack and roof box aswell once she's dropped :p

You can see it if walking towards the car and not on top of it from memory.

And aerodynamics have a nothing to do with looks per say :p

Don't forget this is Fiat, they won't be adding stuff which costs them money unless they need to lol.

It's called an Air Dam and has a specific aerodynamic purpose. Together with your undertray, it will shape the airflow under the car especially at high speeds

Black lip...
