Bit of a alarm/key muddle

Hello, I own a Bravo HLX. I have only owned it for approx 2 months myself, it came with two blue keys(one as a norm key, the other slightly bigger with a button on) and also two fobs with buttons on for a alarm.
I am currently using a fob to disarm the alarm, and the norm key to unlock the doors manually.
I have now come to realise that the alarm I/she was using is not standard(it does not remote central lock, just alarm). And that the HLX's come with remote central locking and alarm as standard(the blue key with button on..???).
I want to try the other key to see if the remote central locking and standard alarm still function. But as i dont have the red key, I dont want to land myself in hot water....???? Im sure it wont work because she didnt keep the car very well, and hopefully just needs a new battery.

Could anybody shed some light on what will/could happen? Or give any suggestion?
Cheers, Matt.

If you press the Fiat Key Button the alarm and central locking should work. There are no after effects. The red key is for the ECU only. However its common for these alarms to go faulty and i think the Fiat Alarm doesn't work because the previous owner has had an aftermarket alarm fitted, a crap one at that.

Personally it'd be cheaper to have a complete new alarm fitted approx £100 that will function the central locking and alarm at the same time.

Rite, I'll give the Fiat Alarm button a go tomorrow morning, best not get locked out of my car though!!!
Also, the alarm that is fitted has a booklet with the documentation with the car and it says that it can operate remote central locking, but where would I go to get somebody to help me with this? A normal garage..???

But why would she have put a rubbish alarm on that prevents the fiat alarm/RCL from working?

Dunno mate the world is full of wierd people, try the button on the key, if it locks the car it'll open the car, but i doubt it'll do anything.

The best place to get the alarm sorted is a qualified electrican that deals with car alarms.

If you live in the North West i could recommend you a decent company but if your not then check the yellow pages.

Im down in the, erm, 'sunny' south. Cheers for the offer though. When will I need the red key by the way? I keep hearing everybody saying its dead important but dont know exactly why.

You will probably never need it, its just there incase you get problems with the ECU or require to emergency start the car.

Just remember never use the red key as a day to day key, always use the blue keys NEVER the red.
