Tuning Bike carbs

RIGHT THEN!

how easy would it be to add a set of bike carbs to a 1108 sei fire engine, ive heard good things about this, and havent seen many done so thought i'd see if anyone has experience or completed it themselves.

Everyone talks about doing it, i seen none running yet .

Never seen it done.

Two likely issues:

1. Emissions
2. Providing the sparks

But if going for bike stuff, surely makes more sense to go for bike ITBs.

I know of a 1108 running a 999cc uno dizzy and single carb setup sounds the tits and goes well too... shame its in a punto

a mate of mine keeps trying to convince me but ive got my heart set on other things

That it runs is no great surprise -- after all, the formula 750 cars run with split webers. The real question is whether there's any performance advantage in returning to the last century.

Unfortunatly this cinq isn't on the road at the moment and has not done a dyno run. However there is an other cinq on wich this exact same set was first mounted. This one did do a dyno run with an outcome of about 80hp.

The DHLA 40 wasn't the only modification offcourse

To be honest I haven't got a clue. But I am guessing not, since it was also decatted....
So it pretty much had to be an miracle if something like that would ever get through emission testing

More than a miracle, it would just be plain bent...!

There were cases many years ago where dumping the very poor injection system and fitting a pair of twin-choke carbs instantly got respectably more power (ie Astra GTE 16v with the red-top engine). But that was pre-Cat. Injection systems have also moved on a lot since then.
