Technical BIG white smoke, oil everywhere.

Huge white smoke behind me yesterday, low oil light on so pulled in. The oil seems to have spread a fair way over the underneath of the car. Any ideas where I should start and what it could be? Gonna try and get it on some ramps today.

White smoke is generally steam. Check the coolant level. Clean off the oil. Check oil level. Turn engine over without plugs (disconnect TDC sensor at plug) listen for unpleasant noises. Compression test, dry and wet.

Dodgy oil filter. Sprayed oil everywhere. I reckon another few seconds ands engine would be gone. New filter on and new oil in. Cento lives on
