hi everyone,

to make my 4x4 more capable off road i want to put 14" punto wheels on it then offroad tyre's, pandik on here i think has got 185/65/14 on his 4x4 but i cant find a off road tyre that size, the one's i have found are 185/80/14... i plan to make it higher and spacers to make it wider aswell, would these tyres be ok to fit or would i have to do anything etc..?? :worship:

Cheers Benjii (y)

Those tyres are bigger than the whole arch, so can't be fitted. Do a search on tyres in this section and find the answer to every conceivable question on the subject including:
"How large a tyre can I get on my 4x4?"
"Where can I get suitable tyres?"
"What wheel offset and spacers do I need?"
"How do I increase the ride height of my 4x4?"

oooo okay thats a no no then :( i want to upgrade to 14" wheels really because its a easy mod to make it higher.... whats the biggest size tyre i could put on with 14" wheels?? i did a seach and cant really find much

thanks Benji

Ahh this is a pain!! I have seen it done before and I don't mind modifying I have seen 175/65/14 which are smaller than pandik's so can't be much of a problem can it?? Lol

Benjii :D

But Pandik's is far from standard ;)

When people lower a car they don't put smaller wheels on they change the suspension. So raising a car will be similar ;)

If you put bigger tyres, you will lose power.

Even if you have a 1200cc motor you will sacrifice the gearbox!!!

Yeh also thought of this I will put spacers on to move the wheels away from the body as will also give me a bigger stance :) so with all these mods those 175/65/14 shud fit :) lol

Well you seem adamant on doing it dispite being advised by myself and others not to. But the choice is yours and it seems your mind was made up before making this thread anyway so go ahead (y)

The draw of the wheels is strong for you, so as MEP says, just go for it Benjii! Just be really careful when you're measuring up and test driving the thing. Consider modifying parts, like the filler, to avoid damage.

Your wheel/tyre diameter will be about an inch bigger compared to standard with this size fitted, a little too much for a standard 4x4, but fine with your other mods.
I wouldn't recommend going any bigger than this though as you will strain the engine and gearbox too much, as has already been mentioned.
I suggest you buy and fit the wheels and tyres first, then you can see how much you need to raise the body or modify the arches.

Benji.
Why not just buy a series 1 Landrover , Lada or Suzuki Jeep and stop f...ing up a Panda.
I know we all have ideas but get a grip and stop the fantasizing and listen to them in the know.

PS I can be proved wrong
Dave
