i have a brava on my back yard at the moment with the engine in bits, i started to repair it 4 month ago, and then due to new baby gave up for a bit, now i want to come back to it ive misplaced my keys, does anyone no the best way of breaking into it with out causing too much damage

i have a second hand lock set, ecu, code reader and red key and so on ready to fit

all help appreciated thankyou

I would try lifting one of the weather strips of the doors. That black strip that runs along the bottom of the glass. Once off you might be able to move the lock rods. Maybe cutting through the door handle and lock barrrel with a saw would work.

Both utter guesses though.

This may be a totally useless reply as I know nothing about this sort of stuff, however I locked my keys, (and nmy baby) in the car and the RAC came out.

They used a wedge and pushed it thru the top of door and then used some air bag pump thing that slowly pulled the top end of the door open and then use a wire hook to grab the keys. He then released the pressure on the door and the door closed absolutly fine with zero damage.

Maybe if you was able to do something like that and and then somehow lift the latch on the door.

OR

If you have a whole new lock set, am I right in saying you have the boot key barrel too?! If you do, isnt there a way of drilling the lock on the boot, and climb through

Yep as above is the best method to use, carefully prise the top corner of the door away from the car, get a firm rod with a bent piece on one end, stick it down the gap and pull the internal door handle, this will pop the locks up as the Bravo/a Marea doesn't have dead locks. Or put some really sticky pads on the rod and push the rod down onto the door pin and pull it up.

This will be the cheapest method and cause no damage aslong as you dont bend the door or smash the glass by bending it too much.

Not sure if the tennis ball trick works on our central locking? Does on the Ford Escorts, :)

If you want to know which slim jim opens the Bravo let me know. ;)

Actually, just occured to me, it would be better to get a wire with a hook and have it long enough to reach the floor to grab the boot catch.... the boot catch are pretty light and release the boot quite easy without much tugging.

So I would say your best bet is to :

Prise top of door and wedge it (Only about an inch MAX)
Get a long rod with a hook at the end
Lower and grab boot catch.

Just dont bend the door too much!!

A brick usually works :D:D:D (y)(y)(y), well sombody had to suggest it. lol

Is it really wise to be posting how to break into our brava's ?
