The best of the best according to manufacturer’s specifications is Mobil 1 New Life 0W40 but I don't know if that's the right one for the 2.4 petrol.
Yes, it is.
In all seriousness and honesty based on updated facts and my own experience, anyone who owns a 2.4 stilo engine whether Abarth or a Schumacher, please for your own sake stop using the "old" recommended multigrade 10w40 oil as it is only a semi synthetic oil, it is not longer recommended and it is totally S**T for this engine
The Mobil 1-(0w40) is the only w~40 viscosity graded oil which i would use as (1) it is a fully synthetic oil (2) it is super rich in additives and (3) having a 0~ cold viscosity rating it has the advantage of reaching all essential engine components much quicker.
I am now running the update recommended 10w60 oil grade and I have seen major improvements.
The 10w40 is no longer the recommended oil for this engine and that is not just from Selenia themselves but from all other manufacturers such as Mobil and Castrol. It should have never been the recommended oil in the first place for such an engine.

As for the "burning oil", this topic is a huge mystery and debatable argument anytime any day for me.
The provided dipstick with this engine is unreliable and very pretentious as previously established and discussed. It can lead to owners driving around like myself once with over topped engine oil which is not good at all

Always make sure to take an accurate engine oil reading on a flat surface and preferably with the engine stone cold as I found out that the oil takes ages to fully drain to the sump even after being left over 2 to 3 hours from a trip.
The combination of a s**t recommended oil grade and a misleading dipstick has caused many owners of these cars so much hassle, one thing is for sure and that is that people must stop using the "old" recommended oil as it is not healthy for this engine. Since I converted my oil grade I have racked up many miles and still not burnt one (mm) of oil.....
