no never use castrol. look what happened to stus 2.4 run on castrol
You can't blame oil for everything

Taking a 100% subjective view like that makes as much sense as me saying Castrol is best oil on the planet because I've never had to add any oil to my JTD in the 4 years I've owned it and it's never once failed to start.

You have to take account of other peoples views too :)

your link no work here. there is more info on there saying the 5w 40 was especially developed for the super fires
PNL's link works good for me

...and you did say
....what ever Selenia are saying to use will be the right one now

no never use castrol....
Looked to me you were making a generic statement but it would seem you intended to say there's a specific issue with certain Castrol oils and the 2.4

So have you got some links to back this up ?

and which oil are we talking about anyway ?

Let us all join hands and be friends. :D

So back to the questions, that will lead to the correct oil:

- Where do you live.
- Is it hot.
- Is it cold.
- Is it a worn engine.
- How much do you drive.
- How do you drive.
- How far has the motor travelled.
- Does it use oil.
- Age of engine.

Selenia is impossible to get here, but I still drive - with another brand. FIAT don't even use it, so it really doesn't matter. It's down to synthetic or not and the numbers before and after the W. 10W60 drastically improved oil consumption on the Ritmo Abarth TwinCam.

all the info is there, i just cant be bothered to do the work for you
Well, that sure as hell makes two of us because I've got better things to do (and you'll the one that seemed to have a point to make)

Can I respectfully suggest not bringing up these topics in the 1st place as it saves people having to read such rubbish.

stop recommending brands/grades not recommended by fiat/Selenia then, oilman did that and got banned remember

update for PNL that was by the old admin on here who now goes by the name of HP. they set the guidelines so now its the way it has to be, we cant have one rule for some and another rule for others.

I must be a bit late on the news here then.

So when exactly was this site taken over by Fiat/Selenia :ROFLMAO:

That sounds a bit threatening.

I've used Millers oils without problem in all my Fiats. XFS in the petrols and XFD in the diesels. Of course using the wrong oil must have caused my cambelt tensioner to have come undone resulting in my cambelt slipping and wrecking the head.

halfords when people have asked for a cheaper alternative as long as they know its not the best option. crap like castrol has so many additives there is hardly any oil left in it. racing with them at high revs so they burn off is not so bad, use them for normal driving and they just turn to black sludge.

i know a lot of old people are set in their ways and have used castrol since the 1940's as it was good then but things change,
