best bass 13cm speakers?

Hi Just Brought An Mk2 2001 Y Reg Punto. I Had The Worst FronT And Back SpeakerS I Think I Have Ever Heard, Along With The Original Cassette Player. I Have Replaced The Head Unit With A Cd Kenwood Cd Player And The Front 17cm Speakers Have Also Been Changed To Kenwood Speakers. It Sounds Much Better But Not That Basey. Was Wondering If Anyone Knew Of Some Good 13cm Bass Speakers For The Back Of My Punto. I Know 6x9 Would Do The Job But Don't Really Wont To Go Down That Route.

You'll get more bass from your fronts @ 17cm than your rears at only 13cm.

Save up a few quid and get a subwoofer in there.

what will a sub do ? will it sound to muffeled then ?

A subwoofer plays the bass notes!

Any music, dance, rap, rock, jazz, classical will benefit from a subwoofer.

It certainly won't make the music sound muffled.

13cm speakers are a waste of time for bass. Id get a sub for sure, then disconnect the back speakers or buy a stealth shelf and fit some speakers like your fronts.

Save your cash and forget speakers in the back, just put a sub in the boot.

Get an amp to drive the whole system and you'll have bass, volume and clarity.

In a word- crap! You could get an active sub with an amp built in matched to the sub. Have a look at the FLI active subs

If you can't afford to do it this minute, then hang on 'til next month.

Thing with car audio is you can always take it to your next car. Get the best you can afford and reap the benefits.

I had exactly the same problem, I put in a nice alpine head, replaced the front speakers with alpine S type 170mm speakers then realised I had volume but no bass. No point replacing the 130mm speakers in the back since thet'll sound like arse anyway. I decided to start fixing the problem by buying subs. Spent about £90 on ebay and got 2 300W 12" subs, a 250Wx2 amp and enclosure and wiring and stuff. When I get it all installed I'll have a nice amount of bass from the subs and good mid and high from the 170s in the front. When next month's pay chaque comes in I'm gonna get a pair of the S type 6x9s and an acoustic shelf. When its finished it should sound sweet.
I'd recommend following the same path, 6x9s last since the front speakers are good anyway, I just need stomach resonating bass.

I think the 6x9 path is, erm, buying 6x9s? Short path I guess.

Sack the 6 x 9s in the rear shelf, they'll ruin the soundstage and your 2 12"s might even stop them working properly (the air they move prevents the 6 x 9 cone moving properly).

Get another amp to drive your fronts, set the amps high pass to cut off the lower frequencies so they can play louder / clearer.
