General Beam deflectors

The missus wants me to take her to Paris, with the Younger Mrs S. so it's a good excuse for a road trip..

I know I could dig out the owner's manual and probably answer my own questione... but I'm bone idle.

Does the X have a beam masking or deflector built into the headlamps, or do I need one of those boss-eye blanking stickers?

It's a 2022 Sport, with the LED DRL lights and direction sensing foglamps.. but the headlights are regular halogen bulbs.

Nothing wrong with being honest, sometimes it can hurt you but then again no lies to be made up and forgetting what lies you told then having to make up a lie for a lie.
You'd be surprised how many never look at their owners manual, come on forums and expect to have their issues resolved. I mean some real idiots.

Not answering your question at all.......remember to get a "crit air" sticker from French gov before you go.
It is very straight forward doesn't cost much , you will receive a temporary sticker via email to use if real one doesnt arrive before you go.

On my 500X - 2015 you have to apply external blankers or beam modifiers.

I have to assume that be your lights Xenon or traditional halogen then the external modifiers/blankers are the some for both.

I have somewhere the required blanking information and my own cut-out templates for UK to EU conversion but would advise you buy and keep the documentation for an EU approved solution/kit.

Basically these external devices are either "beam blankers" or "beam modifiers". With "blankers" then one can create your own or just "tape" to produce the same blanking of the Left/Nearside UK beam kick up.

I must qualify this post in that you should yourself check the EU legislation / requirements in this matter. Whilst you pass EU local policing checks etc. in the case of an accident then "the experts and jobs worth" bods may get involved so home made/spun beam adapters could be held against you.

Bottom line is for the sake of £5 to £10 getting an officially approved beam modifier is the best and safest route to take.

I dug out my user manual..

I learnt that the windscreen wipers have a "service" position.. which I'd activated by accident once and wondered what the hell it was doing.. but then promptly forgot to investigate it further.. so it was handy to find out what that was. I'm determined to use it now.

I also learnt that my foglamps have an H11 bulb, which I didn't know was even a thing...

I didn't see anything in my book about adjusting the beam angle, so either I missed it.. (distracted by the wipers thing) or my car just doesn't have it.


I'll order the little silver blanking stickers.. it's only the police who are going to be interested, since I don't intend to do any dusk/night driving... just drive down there in the morning (best crossing is the morning one, since I can have a Ferry fry-up.. ) park up somewhere safe and then just use the Metro.

I love translated user manuals..

Does "left driving" mean a RHD car, or when you're driving on the left?


I remember years ago, I had tape stuck to the lights in the shape of 11 and 12.. and the UK-supplied deflectors look like 11 and 12 too.. so I guess "left driving" means a RHD car... but now I'm bemused.

From what I could see, the sticker for the 500 (non-X) appear to just go inline with the bulb, effectively making it a flat light pattern.

I'm trying to recall as I made and used myself back in 2019.

Easy to work out. Cut a piece of card to the dimensions. Then offer the card in all 2/4 variations with the lights pointed at the garage door. The correct one is where the kick-up beam is blanked off.

Aye.. that's what I remember... and the ones I ordered look like they're that general shape (just more rounded).
