Hi guys, I have a mk2A punto and it's currently missing the battery strap. Obviously it's not a big deal however did come up as an advisory on the MOT so wondering if anyone either has one spare or knows the measurements for it so I can make one myself. TIA

Hi, 🙂
it's often just a "foot", that clamps the edge of the battery

A fabric strap us often thrown away at battery change time🤔

here's a pic of the metal strap that holds my battery in place. MK2B 1.2 8v model. Strap slots into base of tray, and then bolts to the opposite side of the tray with bolt and the 'spring' type curved top tightens to the strap. The tension holds battery secure.
Hope this is of help.

A mate yrs ago had this on his Escort, every time he went over a bump his stereo and electrics cut out. Turns out the battery was shorting out on the bonnet.

If you want new this link is £30. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/31532352...lHkOPugRMW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

If you don't want to spend that much £20 will get you a tray and bracket https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12571638...lHkOPugRMW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Or you can punt for a universal bracket for less than £7 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/30561902...lHkOPugRMW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Just need a couple of M6 bolts to hold them down.

for a reliable car you should also think about supporting the bundle of wires that are attached to the engine and ECU. The original battery holder has a built in cable route that supports the weight of the cables from the fuse box and then the cables are clamped here and there to the engine side. Without that support there is a large amount of weight of cables that are then supported by things like the coil connections and the crank and oil sensor wiring.
