Technical Battery problem

3 years on the numax, 5 for the varta.
72AH would be fine for powering a dvd unit wouldn't it?

I'd assume that'd be more than enough. Halfords had a calcium version of their OEM replacement that delivered a higher AH value and they said it was better for doing just such a task. It was still around 10AH lower than the 096 batteries as well.

I've just ordered a Numax 096 from www.tayna.co.uk. Cost around £60 delivered with a 3 year guarantee... I'll let you konw how it goes (y)

My Numax Silver Premium 096 from local motor factors was £69.99 back in April so I suppose I did alright price wise :)

Battery has given no cause for concern yet, despite short journeys and recent minus fives

Getting an 096 tomorrow, although we've had a go at recharging the original battery. The solution inside it had actually dropped so low that the plates are exposed, apparently, which probably means it is dead as a dodo.

The tech dept is coming home early tomorrow to sort it out and then I am under orders to head up the Autobahn a ways and thrash it a bit. Oh, the horror!

Fitted my Numax 096 just there and RGZ is now running fine. Didn't struggle to start or anything :)

Checked the earth point as well and couldn't see anything wrong with it, it looked clean and the like, though I didn't have a way of testing it for sure. Shall do that anyway when I pop round my mates on Saturday.

I have to say, the 096 was a bit of a tight fit though. Was worried for a moment it wasn't going to get in. Just thankful it's sorted, thanks for all the advice (y)

Just fitted my 096, took me about 10mins.

For those wanting to know how to do it:

1) remove the battery cover (its got torx headed bolts, but you can use a 5mm allen key on them)
2) remove the battery clamp, two 10mm bolts at the front and the rear - you'll need a socket with an extension for this
3) disconnect the earth with a 10mm spanner - dont need to take the bolt all the way out, just loosen
4) as soon as its disconnected, either put some tape over the earth, or put the cap on from your new battery
5) unscrew the two phillips screws which hold down all the connectors near the +ve terminal
6) disconnect the +ve terminal as per (3)
7) again put some tape over the terminal
8) Pull the old battery out and replace
9) reconnect the +ve terminal
10) screw in the top plate
11) connect the earth
12) fit the clamp - make sure you dont drop the bolts!
13) start the engine, make sure everythings ok, no loose connections etc
14) refit the battery cover

Job done!
