I have read several posts about the link between some warning messages at engine start up and the type of battery installed (eg ASR faulty, etc).
Does anybody know if a change to a higher capacity battery (eg JTD) has resolved these sensors problems?
What battery would be the best, the one that is installed on the JTD?
Is the JTD battery the best for this purpose?
Does the 1.8 use the same battery as the JTD?

Thanks.

Hi

I drive a 1.6 Dynamic, which did suffer from all these startup faults. I went back to FIAT about it, and told them to fit a new, higher capacity battery.

They ordered one for the JTD, and I installed it (and gave the old one to a friend whos Peugeot 205 needed a new battery). Since then, TOUCH WOOD, no startup faults.

Best thing to do is get a JTD battery, and when installing it, leave the car for 2 hours with no battery on it (my FIAT dealer told me this resets cars parameters).

By fitting a higher ampere battery will rectifiy your problem. When starting your car the starter takes out to much of the battery and if the voltage does not stay at 12.46v (ish) the ECU`s detect a fault so by having a larger capacity unit this will reduce the possibility of this happening.SO go for the JTD one

How can i find out the type of battery I have got : I mean is there a way to identify the battery type without taking the cover off?
Thanks.
