Hello all..

I have a 2014 Fiat Ducato based Autotrail V 600 motorhome. I am thinking about fitting 2 sealed low profile AGM leisure batteries under the drivers seat to free up storage space from the current location under a (drivers side) bench seat. does anyone know which brand/ model of batteries would physically fit in there safely and also how difficult it is to remove the seat & presumably the swivel base? I believe that vantage motorhomes fit 2 sealed batteries under their Fiat Ducato drivers seats - I did ring them but wasn't able to ascertain more than they are sealed and 105 AH and require no topping up whatsoever. Thanks in advance

12volt mobility scooter batteries.
Sealed units with 2 x bolt to terminals.

Proper DEEP CYCLE batteries..like leisure battery..but with more capacity.

Mine was under the passenger seat also..as my old ducato Had proper tool storage under drivers.

What capacity were they? Were they Lithium and did they need a special charger?

Stewen, with great respect, this forum is really a Ducato technical forum. Might I submit that you will receive more technical advice on batteries and motorhomes from 'Out and About' and 'Motorhome Matters' forums where there are experts discussing this?

Hi thanks for the advice. Will do.sorry, I'm still learning :)

I suppose my question should have been just how do I remove the drivers swivel seat on a 2014 X250 Ducato?

No problem, sorry if I sounded pompous. Just ask your question in Motorhome Matters and you will be inundated with replies. Take it from there. Cheers.

I have 2 110ah AGM telecoms cabinet batteries lying flat under my driver sest in an x244 model. They get scrapped about every 5 years mostly having never been discharged, so if you know any telecoms engineers ask them. Life expectancy on these ones is 12 years minimum. 70kg though so they need secure mounting - in the event of a collision that would easily turn into a few tons.

Removing the seat is easy. Just swivel it until you see the fixings in the seat base and lift it off. It is heavy. There are quite a few motorhomers on this forum including myself and in my opinion it is slow moving to the point of stagnation and could do with some diversity!

In a previous van the leisure battery was under the drivers seat and I added an additional one under the passengers seat.

The only problem was that topping-up required removal of the seats as the bungs were not accessible otherwise; I'm admitting nothing but co-incidentally these were the only batteries that I ever had run dry:eek:

I note you are proposing to fit sealed batteries but I still always felt uncomfortable sitting on top of these things.

I have learnt a lot from it. If you have a problem, chances are that someone else has also had it and will help
My impression of this particular Ducato forum is that it is primarily for Ducato rather than for conversions and Motorhomes, although the two are obviously intertwined to some extent
