OK, i got me a good pioneer head unit, with all the gizmos and RCA outputs you'd ever want. In the boot I've got a 100w RMS Rockford Amp powering the front Sony 10cm jobbies and some Alpine 6x9s. Nowt amazing, but it does me proud.

Or at least it did me proud until I actually solved a wire routing problem and turned the Amp up to full with no background noise... Now the bass-lines just overcome the 6x9s at anything over 30% volume, the only solution so far has been to chop everything off under 50k using the head units 'advanced' controls. Got lovely clarity and plenty of volume, but then I've not really got the bass that the higher volumes deserve...

So if I still want some bass at those volumes, what do you guys recommend that isn't going to break the bank? I've seen some built-in amp and woofer solutions for under the ton at motorworld...

I'd say look at www.caraudiocentre.com or .co.uk

They offer loads off packs that will include an amp, sub, carpeted box and wiring for under £150. Have a look at a 12" JBL GT sub with a JBL GTO2000 amp, £130 I think. I wouldnt bother with a sub box and built in amp unless its an infinity basslink x, these are really good. I say dont bother because buying seperates will give you a much better quality.

Hmmm... prices range from £299 to £134.99 for that Basslink thing. Gets all the best reviews too... I was actually going to order it online from New Image for that price, when it stuck £20 on for shipping! Such a cheap tactic that they've lost a customer... £20 just to ship a box?? Are they daft or what?[:(!]

Motorworld are doing some good deals at the mo on JBL subs - 10 inchers for only £30. One of them in a sealed box with around 200W of amplification will sort out your system's bass quite nicely.
