bass-box and mdf question

Fibreglass matting is cheap.

Get some coremat to build up the thickness, 4-6 layers of CSM, some coremat and then more CSM.

MDF

I checked mine to see and i have used 3/4 inch mdf all round. I knew 1/4 inch wasnt right.

ok, got the MDF. 18mm thick, weighs a hell of a lot! got 30mm wood screws, some glue/sealer, and still no fibreglass. I picked up a single sheet of mdf of 2000mm x 1000mm give or take an inch.

how much csm and coremat should i order? i really have no idea. bear in mind i'm not putting a back on the amp box. just the contoured back for the sub.

i used 2 sheeots of 8ft by 4ft sheets to do my install and it was 12mm nothing wrong with 12mm it weighs less too

too fooking late now! i've got the 18mm, and its sliced up into almost the right sizes :D

of course, my car comes close to scraping the ground without all that mdf, who knows, i might be putting standard rear springs back on in a few weeks...

here is another tip mate!

dont put standard springs on, use caravan spring stop thingys... they are like a spongy rubber that goes in the spring that reduces travel! so you will have a low ride which wont bottom out! Tafi used to have these on his old bravo, and his build weighed more then a small house!!!lol...still lowered though!

i know exactly what you mean Paul, dont know why i saw them, or where... wont the back of the car hop about though?

dont think so? dont remeber tafi complaining...but his was a slow 1.2.... anyway, i had an intall that probably weighs loads more then yours in that car with no probs!

yeah, but i've already had to sort out the rear valance once already! It crossed my mind to get a standard one, get another rieger rear, and trim about an inch or so from the top of the valance, and mount it on. It'd look similar, but need more smoothing, and would be at least an inch higher up. Its way off though, as its too expensive at the moment. hell, i cant even afford this install to start with, its all going on a credit card (11 months interest free left)
