Has anyone had problems with the back windscreen wiper not working, and no obvious reason for it? HELP!

same problem.

Hi Hendy.

I'm also having a problem with my back windscreen wiper. Sometimes after wiping the backscreen, it makes a tiking noise. It's being looked at, but isn't fixed jet. So if I have more info, i will let you know.

Greetings Joep

Thanks Joep

Good luck to you then. The first time is stopped I traced it to a wire that had been cut behind the facia at the boot. This time I can't see whats wrong, but the ticking noise is there so the mototr seems to want to work.
Confused - you will be - thanks FIAT!

Check the boot

The electrical connections for the rear wiper are at the base of the boot. If the boot is not properly closed or the contacts are being obstructed the wiper motor will not work, and you may get a ticking noise. At least thats what happened me when I was driving about when the boot was not locked!!

Rear wiper engine

The 'ticking' but not moving rear wiper in my case (Bravo 1.6 Nov-1996) was caused by a malfunctioning rear wiper electrical motor. Fiat just fitted a motor that is to weak to push the wiper around! Mine was replaced by a stronger one, and since then it wipes like h.ll!
By the way: make sure there is reason to wipe, because on a dry window the wiperrubber is just torn off the blade. Like the side window electric motors, Fiat fitted very cheap appliances.
Do something about this Fiat!

Regards,
Erik

rear wiper - washer

talking about stupidity : my rear wiper only wipes with intervals. I can spray water on the rear window, but by the time the wiper goes the water is gone (it's a vertical window you know) and the wiper only leaves dirty stripes. With a good timing tou can spray and wipe at the same time, but ihave to watch the road as well you know.
I love my bravo but it's those stupid little things that sometimes make me wish it was a german car....

Wiper timing

I know what you mean Rudolph, though I have got better with practise at scooshing and wiping at the same time. The thing that really gets up my chuff is that the balde doesn't have ebough tension at the outer edge so doesn't clooect water properly, leaving a dirty band of dirt!If you know where I can uprate the wiper motor anyone or the electric window motor, please, please pass it on.

Wiper Issue

Joep, I had the same problem. the ticking will get worse to the point that the wiper will fail. There was or is an issue with the electric motor and it fails all too easily. I had a replacement and it has given me no problems. Same thing with the drivers electric window, it was very slow. All 96 - 98 Bravo's had similar issues, new motor now fitted and all is Ok and window is much faster. Only problem was the bill, not cheap. Hope this helps......
