Back washer on Fiat Bravo

Hi,

I have a Fiat Bravo 1.2 80SX and the back window washer has broken. I was told by Fiat that the pipe that takes the water to the little nozzle has come away and they wanted quite a bit of money just to reattach it. Is there a simple way that I could do this myself?

Thanks for any help

Susan

Rear washer

When you say the rear washer/wiper is broken, does the wiper not move or just water doesn't come out?

If it's just the pipe that has disconnected then you can simply remove the plastic interior inside the rear hatch (4 screws I think then pull carefully as the plastic uses studs to hold it in place). You can then access the rear washer and reconnect the pipe.

You may have leaked washer fluid into the boot lining so it might be a good idea to check the trim and under the spare wheel.

Finally, as what happened to mine, the pipe came loose and leaked water into the boot. I dried everything out and reconnected the pipe. Then, a few months later the actual wiper motor/gear siezed because it had got wet. This is also simple to replace yourself. However, the motor/gear mechanism costs about £80 from Fiat. I couldn't find one from anywhere else.

I hope that this is useful.

Mark.

Rear Washer

Hi,

Thanks for your help guys, its the actual place where the water comes out that has stopped working and I had saw the plastic holder inside the boot, but was wary to touch it without getting advice first.

Thanks

rear screen wash

Had a similar problem, look for a damp patch in the boot. If it is just the wash and not the wipe you can take off the plastic trim from inside the boot lid to access the rear of the motor - just push the pipe back on - a fiddle to get the trim back but only tool you need is a cross head screwdriver

rear wash worry

I'm a bit late in response to these messages but I had no water going to my rear wash, it was diverted to the engine compartment via the non-return valve situated top right of the engine compartment (small black plastic thing between white and black pipe that fed the rear wash. 2.19 from Halfords

More wash woes

The rear washer stopped working on my HGT. The headlining was also very wet. Turned out that the pipe which connects to the washer nozzle had split (constant opening and closing of the tailgate had obviously led to chaffing of the pipe). I dropped the rear headlining as much as possible found the faulty piece of pipe and joined it up with a washer pipe joint obtained from an accessory shop. Not difficult, but fiddly owing to lack of room to work!
