right then its about time i got my choke working instead of having to keep the revs on for the first mile ever morning so she dont cut out.

were do i start to sort this problem? i've just had my idle valve off and took it apart and gave it a clean, which it was not to bad and i know that wont be the problem anyway.
has anyone ever had this problem and knows what i need to do to put it right?

that's exactly how mine was when the idle valve was disconnected. don't suppose you can swap it for a known good one? just to check it out to see if it is the cause of the problem.

if it's not that, it might be something like the coolant temp sensor?

i've got a spare idle valve i'll give it a try tomorrow and see if it makes any difference. i noticed on saturday that the pipe from the idle valve to the main air intake had split in 3 places, so i cut the bad bit of pipe off and refitted it, come to think of it it made no difference to the tick over with the pipe connected or not

sorted:D, just changed the idle valve and she revs up on her own now when you start her up, thanks maddogmorg(y)

the idle valve starts ticking when you turn the key, should it be doing that?

will probably have to have a play around with tick over tomorrow when she warms up as i had it turned up abit to spot it cutting out all the time.

got problems, 3 times today my revs have shot right up on there own and stopped there, i had to turn ignistion off each time to stop it reving high.
what could this be? is it maybe the idle valve sticking???

check the connections on the throttle position sensor, clean them up, it sounds like when i disconnected it, revs went straight up, and didn't change at all.

i'll give it a try tomorrow(y) noticed a couple of times today it seemed to stop working and revs dropped right down and car stalled. it makes a loud sound like it is sucking in air when you touch the accelerater pedal and as soon as you take your foot off the pedal it stops, is that what yours does?

right got my mate to push peddle so i could have a good look and the sucking air sound is just the air filter sucking in air, im thinking it might be that i've cut the pipe from the idle valve to the intake pipe down to 2 inches long so it goes in a straight line from valve to intake pipe, i did that because i had made the pipe shorter before because of it having 2 slits in it, and when i fitted the new idle valve it was abit different shaped from the other one and i couldn't get the pipe back on so thats why i cut it and fitted it different. so could it be that because the pipe is alot shorter that it is pulling the air into the valve alot harder and that is why it is making the loud sucking noise??
