hello all, major problem, previous owner has attempted to wire a aftermarket cd player into the car, not being sucsessfull, resulting in the speakers being really poor quality.

if anyone could help what i propose to do is
1) cut the ends off all the wires leading to the cd player
2)buy a harness adaptor, chop the adaptor end off and hardwire the wires together.

problems are, i do not know what each of the wires do and does anyone know if they are colour coded the same as the adaptor?
i have also noticed that the door speaker wires are the same colour, how do i ensure that they get enough power as the same speaker works great on the right side of the door and crap on the left side of the door(this is the part where i think the owner got confused):bang::bang::bang:

please help

Sounds like you have wired the ones that sound crap out of phase i.e + to - and - to +. Just swap the wires round and see if it sounds better.

on the speaker or behind the unit?

as mentioned its a complete mess if i could wire the wires up to the correct adapter wires all would be sorted surly?

jus dont know what each colour means and the relation to the harness adaptor . anyone?

Well it's always a good idea to tidy up the wires. How much do you know about the configuration of an ISO. If you can lay out what you know then we can fill the blanks.
It doesn't matter what end you swap the wires they both end up in the same place at either end if that makes sense.
Have you considered the fact that it could be a blown speaker.

i know it isnt a blown speaker already tested,

if i knew how to wire up the loom from the punto to a aftermarket iso adapter then this would solve it surly

only problem is , is that i dnt know what each colour means and for the front speakers the wirecolour is the same so how do i know which of the four to put where on the adapter

I think I'm missing something here. As long as all of the wires are connected an ISO loom won't make any diference at all. It's just a quick release system that stops you having to cut the wires every time you remove the HU.
As for knowing which is which, its a case of trial and error. Are there no indication as to a pair of wires ie brown stripe on 2 or something.
It should become clearer when you see the loom but the obvious ones are Red for power, black for ground. You will need to plug the red into the spare yellow on the new loom and then wire the power to that.
There really is no easy way to do it when it comes to the speakers though just trial and error. If the cars loom has black stripes on some of the speaker wires then they will be - and if some are red then they will be +.
