Audio Inteference

I have just wired up my DVD player through my Alpine head-unit, using their aux-in adapter, and a phono cable i bought today. There seems to be so much inteference, and a humming noise in the background.

Any ideas what the cause might be? and any ways of sorting it out?

Try re-routing your wires, keeping away from as much wiring as you can for the majority of the run-this will be impossible near the head unit though! Other than that a screened conduit to shield your wires would be a possibility, which should be grounded near the ground of the head unit. Dependent on your wires, twisting them around eachother like a helix is a way of reducing interference. Or just stick to watching DVD's in your house!!

Funny question but its happening to a mate of mine at the moment, does the interference get louder and 'whistle' or similar as the car is revving?
