Hello,

Have had a look through a number of the posts on here about this (common) problem.

basically this morning my Blue&Me steering wheel controls weren't working and they were on my drive home last night. So after a root around on the FF I found that disconnecting the battery for 20mins or so would do a hard reset.

So I disconnected the Earth connections...left for about 5mins (as I was very cold) and then reconnected, the Blue&Me controls now work however, when I start the car now I get the ASR disconnected and the ESP and Hill Holder are not functioning (as they are all inter-connected). Tried re-starting a few times but same thing.

Any ideas? Should I try a 20 minute disconnect? Anyone know what could be going on? Car drove home fine, no problems, seems to be related to the battery disconnect.

So, I was worrying about it so went back out.

Disconnected Earth for 20+ minutes. Restarted car and same error message. Took it for a 30 second drive and as soon as I pulled off everything was back to how it should be. Restarted and all good.

Fingers crossed!!

I had this problem a while ago it seemed to come in when using the cruise control. The cruise control would come on and work then would stop after a while the light on the display indicating that it was working was still on. A warning would then come on about thge asr/hillholder etc and once car had been stood a while then turned back on the problem would clear. I had this problem for a while but it wouldnt do it all the time so ignored it, then one day when coming out of work my friend was behind me and noticed that when breaking the brake lights would flicker on and off and even when not braking ie going up hill would flicker. Went to fiat and told them of problem with brakes and they said that it was down to a faulty brake switch(just above the pedal), also told them about the asr problem and they said linked to brake switch causing problem. I had the switch repaired for free and the problem with the ASR/Hillholder has not reoccured. Get someone to watch your brake lights when you press them it seemed to me that the pedal was not rising enough to make a connection even tho it was. Like i said your problem sounds like what i had in that it has happend and then its not done it for a while which is what mine did. check switch and go to fiat good luck.

As for the ASR/ESP/hill-holder it might be that you need to steer lock-lock to clear the faults after a battery disconnect (or at least steer through a full turn of the wheel), to reset the steering angle input to the ESP module.

Steve.

Someone, what is the Hill Holder, cause if my car is supposed to have it, it certainly isn't working!

You been rolling backwards on the Crescent Bridge? Nearest thing to a hill near Stanground, oooops I mean Metropolis':D Seriously, Hill holder keeps the brakes on while you rev the engine and let the clutch up! For those Stallions that only have two feet:devil:

Yup, it works a treat, especially on some of the hills in Glasgow city centre!

Mind you, I dont rely on it, I'm never sure if I'm on a steep enough incline for it to activate! There should be a light on the dash or something to let you know its kicked in!

Picked up my Bravo last week (105mjeco) and had ASR warning light coming on intermittently and cruise control not working.

Did a temporary fix to the brake switch (metal shim held with blu tack!) but dealer fixed it today by adjusting the brake switch.

Everything now working.
