I am getting a new lock set, ecu etc delivered and I am looking to code the new keys. Both the Fiat manual and the garage make this sound like it is the new alchemy, but there are threads that just say fit the new gubbins, red key and turn on, remove and insert blue keys and turn on, red key turn on to close (all in 10 secs). Is it really this easy?

As detailed in a previous thread, you must first match the CODE ECU to the engine ECU. If you cock this up then the whole lot is scrap again.

Once the new CODE ECU is matched to the new engine ECU then your new master key is the only key that will operate the car. Then you can do the business with the master key, blue key, blue key etc, and that bit IS as easy as people make out.

Under no circumstances connect the OLD CODE ECU to the NEW engine ECU, as there is a chance that the new engine ECU will grab and lock itself to the old CODE master code, and you are then back to square one.

But do things carefully and logically and everything should be OK!

Thanks again Nick. So if I disconnect the battery, replace the ECU, Code ECU and keys, reconnect the battery then go through the key code session, all will be well.
