Anyone on Virgin Cable Broadband?

dozens? so out of all the thousands upon thousands of customers, it sound like theyre only going to target the truely hardcore pirates.

stu's in trouble then ;)

tbh its the thin end of the wedge, like bandwidth capping.
a few isp's brought it in so people moved isp's
now its near the norm to one degree or another

Hiya there
Are there any FF members using Virgins broadband service? [cable]

We have just signed up to it after finally being pushed to another provider by the poor service of Orange, and frequent downtime.

We have the cable installed, and the modem, but are awaiting the wireless router arriving.

Its supposed to be a 10mb connection, how do I find out if its running at that? when its plugged in it only shows a 'local network' connection

so, is anyone on it, and if so, whats the equipment and service like? any downtime at all?

thanks:)

Hi there

I have been using virgin broadband for quite a few years, formerly Blueyonder. I have no complaints with the service at all. I phone them up every twelve months telling them i am going to leave and they always manage to sort out a better deal for me. I have phone and free TV with them(y). I refuse to go to BT as they want about £119 just to setup a phone line :bang: and i cannot justify paying them that much.

With regards to broadband speed tests, i always use www.speedtest.net

right i used to work for ntl which then became virgin, i left just after virgin bought ntl as it became a s**t company to work for i was an installation engineer going house to house to install equipment and main fibre optic and telephony cables.

ntl have never used any of bt cables or equipment, the old analogue equipment was ran by co-axial cable ran under the pavements in the specified areas in roughly 5 inch ducting(tubing). now the majority of these old co-axial cables have been replaced by a dual cable, one half of the cable is as said before fibre optic which is used to run the digital tv and braodband services. Now the other half of the cable houses three pairs of telephony cables so in theory each property could have 3 separate phone lines but these spare pairs were really used to replace damaged telephone pairs.

although where i now live i cant get virgin i have had it in the past now on bt i think virgin braodband is by far the best the only down side which i have always thought is the c**p customer services as they usually cant be bothered they just pass you round and round till you get fed up lol

hope this helps any more questions just ask(y)

i got my 3 mobile braodband working yesterday, speed tests showed i get at best 512k download, usually closer to 400k, and upload is usually 80k.

WTF!!
