Hey guys!

Right I have a 1990 45S that I'm converting to Turbo specification.

I'm seeing if anyone is after the engine and gearbox (5 speed) before I take it out and leave it lying around or worse scrap it! (I don't want to do that)

The engine was running but then stopped, as I'm not using it I decided to not bother finding out why.

The car is located between Oxford and Bicester (Bicester side of the M40).

I'm after the 3 (I think) mount brackets that mount FIRE engine and Punto-type gearbox into a Uno - don't need the rubbers, just the brackets, and bolts too.

I'm not 100% sure what gearbox you'll have - does it look like the attached pics? The pics are Punto 90ELX - it has the Punto type box but mated to sohc 1581 Uno-type engine. So ignore the engine - is your gearbox like the Punto-type one in the pics?

Fostertom, I think I have spare mounts from my "stockpile" of Uno/Turbo parts, I'm at the car Friday so I can check.

Tastic Biz - see what you have, and maybe I could pop over and see what other bits I'll need but you might be not needing, for FIRE engine + Punto-type box installation into Uno - like clutch and gear linkages? Not sure what I need but wd be handy to see how it sits in your 45 shell. Unless you know those answers already, then stuff I buy off you could just be posted.

My plan is Punto ELX85 or Sporting engine c/w electronics, and 6sp box, into my mk.1 70SX Uno.

A 1990 FIRE Uno has the C501 type box, with rod change & wet driveshaft cups, yours is a different box, with cable selector & dry (external) type driveshaft cups, its not interchangeable. (Had all this when my gearbox died in the 1990 one!)

Just get the late Uno gearbox mounts and a 6 speed will go in fine. Won't make any difference to the linkage required- a standard late uno setup will change into 6th for example. Both 5 and 6 speed versions of the box you are after are called C514. Perhaps buy the box on offer as it will guarantee you have the right sized "cups" (there are two sizes) and a cable speedo output if you still require this.

The engine is available but the gearbox is not.

I am now breaking this car!

If anyone is after an engine then I can do a good price on it, it's done 30K and I'd rather it go to a new home or be melted down and turned into a Skoda or something similar!

I am now putting the project on hold until I finish Uni.
