Hi,

It looks like I'm going to be off to California before the end of the year with my job - is there anyone out there either in the US, or with recent experience of spending an extended period over there who wouldn't mind answering a few questions? If so, PM me rather than adding to this thread!

Thanks in advance…

Thanks - I did think about setting up a supply route from Cadbury (they're not far from where I live!), but there are ex-pat shops over there where you can get stuff like that out there anyway (and Marmite and other such peculiarly British foods)!

One of the drawbacks of this move is that I'll have to give the Ulysse back - despite some issues, it's been the best company car I've had in a long time.

Aw dear John, what do you do? Who you leaving behind and when are you taking orders from peeps for cheap clothing etc to bring back! LOL

I'm sure that we'll get more finding their way into this little warped universe! There are a few victims (oops - members) that we can work on!

btw you are welcome to come on fiat forum if you get home sick even if you have no fiat anymore :)
Thanks... and I can make you feel better by giving lots of horror stories on how bad American cars are!

Don't worry, Dave, I am working on them....

I know Shrek is up here sometimes, although he does spend a lot of time in the arcade as well.

I work as a consultant for a computer storage company (based in California but with a worldwide presence). Initially I'll be leaving the whole family behind (for a number of reasons I won't go into here, but basically the timing is wrong for them to move immediately:( ) but they'll follow on next year. As to orders for cheap clothing - get in line (it's already a long one and it might be your turn in 2015) ;) !

dude american cars arent that bad at all... when i lived there i had a jeep, apart from 1 problem with the starter motor which was fixed i had no real problems at all.

get ready for an aweful lot of attention, as soon as u open your mouth people flock round. and u will b asked the same questions over and over and over again, like "do u kno the queen?" classic

With my luck with cars, I'm sure I'll come up with some horror story - hey, I managed to (somehow) blow an engine in a 2.0JTD Ulysse for heavens sake!

I can cope with that, especially if they buy me lots of beers! (it'll help keep the cost of living down for me!) :D
