The display is warning for ABS, ESP, ASR and Hill holder being inoperative.
The rev-counter, ASR, speedometer and climate control system are disabled does any one no cause and remedy to these problems any help would be great. thanks mike.:D

Hehehe.

This is the thread, started by the seller...

It should be a good buy IF it is just the alternator. It sounds like all the right symptoms to me though. If it was mine I'd fix it before selling, but each to their own. Hopefully the scary-sounding symptoms will put off all the other bidders and you'll get it for nothing - that'll teach him!

Basically, once the alternator's gone, the battery goes flat. As the various electronic systems begin to die, the fact that they're dead is interpreted as a fault.

thank you sound advice, as you say fix alternator sell for more money... his loss some ones gain maybe. mike:devil:

You do know 'he' can read this?

As good a car as it is for it's price, we're heavily dependent on having two working cars. I can't afford the Croma's seeming unreliability, and it's ferocious appetite for parts! We're going to drop back a generation, perhaps dropping some of the newness, to hopefully get more reliability.

If you do decide to place a bid, I wish you the best of luck with it. If it is just the alternator, I honestly wouldn't be bitter. It's just not Fiat enough for my liking!

i would surmise judging from your years on here its more than a simple fix... i suppose there comes a time where your past caring and time to sell on. will curse follow or will luck change who knows .... mike

It could be as simple as replacing the alternator, and that's it... fixed. But with my luck with this car I'd then have £200 in the car, and something else will break. :bang: I probably should have drawn the line when the gearbox went, but faced with £2k to fix, or £2k to buy another car, at the time it looked a better deal to repair given all the parts we had replaced prior...

I once had an old Vauxhall that needed major repairs roughly every month. We got fed up of it, after the throttle jammed open and we had to get a new (scrap) engine. Sold it to a friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend (not intentionally).

A year later, I tentatively asked if the car was OK. He said it was the most reliable car he'd ever had - just put petrol in and drove it.

I'm still waiting for the moment when our Croma "matures" and it just works.
