Well, did you all like the last one? I think I'll not do another after this but I'd love to see another person have a go.

So, lets get started.

This is a very simple wee device I made when in my 20's and it figured large in getting me the most significant job - in terms of career progression - I've ever had. See how small the pipe bore is and how thick the tubing sidewall. The chamfered end is also important - there's a clue for you.

How about this one? Yes it's an obstruction spanner but for a very specific application.

Here's a wee collection of very strange looking things, What would you be doing with them and why were they necessary.

Could this be some strange sort of file? Well no, but it is used to remove metal. what's it called?

What do you think I'd be about to do if you saw me with this small (roughly 1ft by 1ft6 ins) pane of quarter inch plate glass and a sheet of emery cloth?

And, lastly. (That's going to be enough I think?) What am I going to do with this little lot?

Have fun with it folks.

Got a sore arm and a bit of a headache this morning. I'm guessing it's the jag but if that's all it's going to do to me then Hurrah!

Clearly I just don't have the years of motor trade experience required for any of these :ROFLMAO:.

I suspect the first one is old school Citroën related otherwise nah...
Thanks very much for taking a look. 'fraid not with the Citroen though. PB's got pretty close with most of it though! Just the last picture?

I doubt the last pic will be answered. A clever challenge, but possibly a unique 'set'. Keep guessing though.

Whatever it is doesn't want to come off...I'm seeing a slide hammer, a hammer, a chisel and cutting disc...I can only assume the pole is for beating it when all the above fail.

I thought slide hammer, but if it was, there would be scratch marks along the length of the bar. This one only has scratch marks around it's circumference.

Brilliant guys, I'm so enjoying this! My private messages file is "smokin'! I know the last one is really difficult because it's mostly home made so, prompted by PB's post above, - you're forgiven PB - here's some clues:

It was put together in the '70's to work on everyday ford vehicles of that time.

It's not really of much use on today's cars.

The piece of pipe is faced off nice and square in a lathe on one end and is used to put "the component parts" back together again

The parts are interference fits and there are two that fit onto another "bit"

By the way, I hope you'll forgive me but I've had so many PM's on this one I just can't reply to you all. Thanks so very much for participating though. I'm not feeling all that great today, sore arm Muzzy head and headache also very tired, just want to veg out. I'm sure it's reaction to yesterdays jag as Mrs J is feeling exactly the same. Don't be put off getting the jag though, I'm not "ill" just feeling one degree under. Expecting to feel fine tomorrow or the next day.

Your participation in this quiz is really keeping me going to day as it's entertainingly distracting. Thank you one and all.

Wife was the same when she had hers, if anything she was more under the weather than when we actually had covid :ROFLMAO:

Passed fairly quickly though and would prefer a few days of feeling a bit under the weather to possibly getting none-mild covid.

Not had mine as I'm nowhere near a priority given my age and having had free range covid. She only got one because she's NHS staff so basically required to go to work.

Submissions have tailed right off now but I'm going to hold the "reveal" until tomorrow. All the items except those in the last picture have been correctly identified, some people managing more than others. But the last picture is still unanswered. So I'll try a few more clues and hope I don't spoil it.

Some have come close, our moderator Davren (sorry, is it Dave?) said he thought the top item is a slide hammer? You're right! Home made from industrial heating pipe and fittings!

I liked Steven RB's diagnosis that it was something that didn't want to "come off" and oh how right he is - on most of them anyway, although I have actually had one come away whilst driving with exceedingly exciting results! His next contribution though was way off course as it's nothing to do with the front end.

It might help to know it would get the job done on a Cortina (which was specifically why I first made it) Escort or Anglia, but not, for example, a Marina or Triumph Dolomite because their assembly is "different".

I've got one more give away which is that when it happened to my Mk1 Cortina GT (Dragoon Red - I loved that car) I lost all, and I mean all, the brakes! Go on, think about it!

Damn. My first two cars were a Mk.1 Escort and an Anglia, but I can't work this out. And the brakes never failed on either of them.

Jack cracked it fellas! I'll reveal all tomorrow. Feeling knackered so of to bed now. Thanks to all for joining in with this sillyness - suppose I'll have to find a coconut for Jack somewhere? Anyone know the shipping charge on coconuts these days or can't they get into the country any more now with all the brexit paperwork?

Thanks Chr1s, Not long for you to wait now. I'll be revealing all when I've had my breakfast and you'll kick yourself when you see the simple train of events that lead to the complete loss of brakes I've mentioned.

Had a weird night. Woke at around 2 am absolutely bathed in sweat. T shirt absolutely wringing! I'm guessing it was the effects from the jag being attacked by my system. I'm feeling ever so much better today, really quite chipper! Realizing now that I was really feeling more "grotty" yesterday than I realized at the time.
