Went to open the boot last night but failed miserably! The boot catch lever always sticks in when I open it & I have to pull it back down with a key and it normally works fine, once or twice it's stuck but locking and unlocking the boot will get it open. But not this time, it feels like it's locked at the left side only as the right side is trying to lift freely, problem is that my boot is stuffed full so I can't get access to the interior, any other ways of opening it?

I stripped mine down and removed the rubber flap. Since then I have had no trouble...yet...fingers crossed... you are left with a metal bar to click up which seems to work well. :)

regular lubrication avoids these problems. failure to follow the maintenance schedule usually leads to problems. lubricate every lock and hinge at least once a year.

Is this a Weekend? Mrs R jammed ours the other week despite it being greased with lithium grease where hidden and oiled where accessible. She was holding the handle up as I unlocked the car and it does not like this. As ever a swift thump with the heel of the hand cured this, adminstered to the car just over the boot handle, not to Mrs R of course:).

It is the Weekend, it seems very prone to boot lock problems
As for regular maintanence the car was bought 5 months ago from the local Fiat dealer with all the maintenance stamps from the same dealer, which was a selling point. It would seem the stamps aren't worth the paper they mark!

I did manage to get the boot open when I was at work, so didn't have a chance to strip it and see what the problem is, it has gone back to sticking shut since then. If I was to strip it do I access it from the panel holding the number plate light on, or is it accessed from under the interior trim?

It's all in the archives, I had a lot of help on here when mine stuck . You take the trim off 2 screws in the handle aperture and 2 under the reflectors, they are held by springs. I cant imagine a bonus driven main dealer fitter ever touching this area, but oh boy don't they know how to charge for a skimped job:mad:
