Hi all,
Can i buy any speedo when changing them over? only got basic speed and fuel atm. Ive seen there are 2 different models

Will both of these work? I am going to be proxy aligning, but last time i had one of these i had trouble with it because the airbag lights came on, but i didnt try proxy aligning.

yes and yes:) any mk2 speedo including up to hgt can be placed in a lower spec mk2, only speedo you cant place in a mk2 is a mk2b speedo:( although that would be awesome but unfortunate it just isnt possible...

but yes, you will need to proxy align the speedo once fitted as the trip computer will consistently flash until its done, you will not be able to use trip computer features either, once proxy aligned trip computer will stop flashing, it will show engines true mileage and you'll have access to trip computer features such as resetting, getting a figure of mpg and mileage accumulated(y)

any speedo apart mk2b below 70k miles which may well be difficult you'd need to get one if lucky from a 50k-60k miles punto, not many about im afraid, although try this place called "puntospares" google it and see if they have any low mileage puntos in their yard they do delivery too:)

wrong you can put a hgt speedo in a lower spec punto, as long as you proxy align it which will then tell the speedo to only use warning lights that punto has, ive done this on a friends punto who wanted a hgt speedo in a mk2 mia:)

also i accidently put a diesel version speedo in my mk2 (although changed now to petrol version) it was proxy aligned and they glow plug warning light was disabled:)

Oh dear are you kidding me. Just about to go pick one of these up. Theyre up for £20 and i was going to go and pick it up. Defiently ones with wider screens wont work?

Not sure for defitnit ask the seller ? But all pics i seen of the auto ones from speed gear models has wider screen and displays P or D ( park and drive) manual you wont need that not sure if wiring is different on it tho mate so couldnt say for defitnite.
 
Got me thinking now. Ive just asked him waiting for a reply. Really wanted to get one lol, but just dont wanna get the wrong one. I wonder if P and D would go when proxy aligned?

Wouldnt know id just be worried about wiring multi plug at back :/ benny? Bit more clued up than me. I never bothered with proxy aligning just put up with flashing lol. I know a ebay seller that will do them from sproting model for 17 quid delivered but they dont know the mileage
 
yeah i have MES so was going to proxy align it. Plus the clocks are only out by 500 miles. If this one works then i should be okay, if not ill stick it on ebay me thinks

*EDIT* Seller just got back to me and it is from an automatic, what do you reckon guys?

it will work in a manual but again will need proxy aligning so that it only uses the features your mk2 has and not what the automatic has, otherwise if you dont proxy align you may get other warning lights that your mk2 doesnt have such as the automatic transmission warning light as it'll think,, hang on wheres the automatic transmission gone?!:p but to play it safe make sure he accepts returns for numerous reasons not only for if it doesnt work in your model but mainly in case it does work and then goes faulty say within a few miles or so after usuage:)
