Cinquecento Another return to the cinqucento

Introduction

So its been a few years since I owned a cinquecento, but have always remained skulking on the ff as I have a love for the little fiats and also have a formula 750.

So at he end of last year, I bought another one (now my 4th?), with the intention of possibly using it for some motorsport abuse. Its been sat around not doing much, just collecting the odd part or two, but now the sun is out I may do some bits to it.

So here it is MOTless sat on the drive.

It has rust in the usual places, and a porous sump (now changed for a new one I had lying around), the exhaust was shot (replaced with a std one for now).

The paint is terrible on it, and it has a dent on almost every panel. (y)
So, Along with 2 other cento's off the forum it participated in its first auosolo yesterday.

Mine is still completely standard tuning wise apart from a mckritch that I fitted.

My friend was double driving my car as it was his first event ever, as usual a mini was miles ahead, but I managed to finish 2nd in class, which considering my car is a wallowy mess I was very happy with! its a shame RHfabricatios had to leave at lunch in his sei, as he was up near the top of the class too. My friend had a couple of wrong tests and some cones, which really pushed his time back. But he loved the cento, and maybe looking at getting a sei (y)

how about a fingers special lower brace... i not fitted mine yet, saving it for my next cinq but i heard nothing but good things.

They are brilliant quality, i tried to fit mine but my stupid sports cat/custom welded up downpipe stops it fitting. So i'm using that as an excuse to buy another Cento to fit the brace to :D

I've got one sat here, but I don't want to fit it yet as it will just amplify the issue elsewhere. I need to really sort the whole suspension. The brace won't stop the roll as much as some of the other components.

Does anyone know where I can get an uprated front arb?

There was an uprated front one produced by some manufacturer (for the life of me, I can't remember the name). Will increase understeer (probably). Rallycinq used to grow them in his garden. :D

Folk have managed to tie two together on other cars, but I've never tried it.

A good blacksmith should be able to make a thicker one up, given a stock one as a pattern.

Thanks fingers, I've been reading the old threads (eibech and novitec made them).

I think first things first i need to replace the 17year old bushes and shocks. Then go for the rear arb, imo you had the best idea with the blade type. Did you ever make one?

No. Maybe when/if the decks are cleared I'll look at the "through the beam" ones as per the homologation documents. Certainly easier to do than any of the others, and a neater design.

Nearly finished redoing mine like this. I've made mine out of 20mm solid running through 20mm I'd tube then the arms welded to the ends of the solid bar. Pickup points on the arm is where the handbrake cable bracket is normally. Doing one for another cinq that's on standard drums and I'll put it just before the bracket be slightly less stiff than mine but that's what is wanted on that car. Far neater and slightly easier than the mgf bar that I did before.

Was going to pop down to have a watch but didn't in the end really want to do one of these events once my black cinq is built

Not the best. Weather was terrible in the morning which just amplified my interesting handling characteristics.

A corsa took the class win by a fair margin, I was second. But it was only a class of 5 in my clubman's class.

Looking at the times of the brtda (sp?) Class the first few were miles ahead.

Also my head gasket is weeping now. Oops

I'll be at the summer solo, not sure if I'll be in the cento. I need to start getting some miles onto the rebuilt hillclimb car, so may bring the puma. The guy who double drove the cento last time will more than likely be out in the cento though
