Phenoptix do sell ballasted LEDs that are safe to wire into a 12V circuit.
A voltage regulator might help, but the chance of the voltage going over 14 volts is minimal, and most LED's should handle that no problem with the correct resistors!

Well done that looks fab
Some ideas not tested out -
A needle file for the grooves might be easier and do them before the rod is bent to shape.
Maybe putting a flat on the back face with a medium file. The rough edge should catch the light.
Possibly just roughing up the whole surface with wet & dry would be enough.
oo nice ideas all though making grooves before could make it more difficult to bend to shape they could snap ect but who knows
yh i tryed to slit first then bend but it just snapped and all the slit seemed to melt and turn into thicker buldges of plastic doesnt work well that way,
i also tryed the wet and dry on back effect but i just didnt like the way it looked too dull for my likin, the slits looks much better imo but i bet the wet and dry technique would reflect more light, i might back my rings with reflective tape or just summat white to reflect the light outwards because right now the most you can see is just light on the slits.
i mean like too much light escaoin thru the back of the ring needs to be reflected to the front
Look i wired then properly even soldered the led legs and wires together, used heat shrink on both ends of the ring and the top of the wire, had to use some insulating tape just in the centre part because thats wer the wires meet and couldnt get heat shrink there
Don't want to sound like a loser or anything but are they legal to use all the time?
Would be pretty mint to have them as sidelights on all the time but I'm not so sure if the dibble would class them as addition lights and try and do you with a £30 fine.
Those ones on ebay look brilliant!
To seperate Panda lights, you stick them in an oven for 30 mins and then silicone them up again to re-seal.
Think I'll be having a do with some later this week![]()
well beamers have them as constant sidelights so i dont see the problem with it being legal and that, and you can buy angel eye headlight units so im guessin tere pretty much legal
