yours truely :(

last night i decided to get my exhaust sorted properly as it was still blowing a bit and knocking on the heat shield making a god awful squeaking and banging / ratteling noise with the centre box very close to some rubber break hoses

so borrowed Ash's angle grinder as there was no way i was going to cut through it with a hacksaw again, plus i dont have it anymore as its my bros and its back at his work

stripped all the exhaust off bar the manifold on the block, so down pipe, cat, centre pipe, silencer and back box. the centre pipe is jammed on the cat where i got carried away fitting it so tried losening it off, and it was coming, but very slowly, so decided to chop an inch of the centre pipe like i needed to considering it was just coming up to 9 (started at 8)

got that sorted and started refitting the exhaust, downpipe first, with the manifold bolts finger tight, then cat and centre pipe, againg with the bolts between the cat and centre pipe finger tight, hanging on the hangers.

then i got a call of a mate, she was panicing because her dash was light like a christmas tree and the mot is next week, bulb light on, oil and the temp gauge kept getting high and her boots ratteling like god knows what (mk2 punto)... women! she turns up at half 9 ish and i sort the boot, the catch / lock mech had worked its way undone, oil light on obviously because it was not even registering on the dip stick, so fill up. temp guage going high because she hasnt even topped the water up or looked at it in 7 months.. top that up. then go in and have a cuppa and chat with her quickly then notice its half bloody 12!!! no torches at home with batteries working and only a lil bit of my exhaust on! crap!

set my alarm to wake up at half 5 so at 6 i can get out there and and fit my silencer so i can get my lil bro to school and get myself into work. wake up at half 5 and in a bleary daze try to work out what that damn noise is. as i come too it clicks, its bloody raining... and not just a little bit, but alot! and i mean alot! fall out of bed and stagger into the lounge to have a look at the drive, ok so the puddles are big, bugger! oh well, ive got to get the silencer on so its reasonable and i dont break the flex in the downpipe (again.. benn there and done that before, plus its a new downpipe!) chuck on some old clothes and brave the elements, its pissing down, get the car jacked up, get the ground mat under the back of patch so i can lie out of the water under her, with me legs poking out and getting soaked. getting the silencer on went failry easily, good clearance the lot, result :) only problem is the fact that where its raining so damn hard the puddle i was just put of on the ground mat has grown, alot... patch is sat there in the big puddle and the ground mat and me are immersed in water... like a cold shallow and dirty bath... lovely...

decide ive had enough, get out from under her, drop her down and get my tools etc in the house. all my clothes are soaked through

go to take my lil bro into school and had to move my other bros car, jump in, start up and move so i can get off the drive. lil bro gets in the car as do i and start patch up... wtf... i know theres no rear silencer on but god thats loud and sounding rather rough! pop the bonnet and have a quick look and it all comes back to me... silly ******** here has forgotten to put the lambda back in the down pipe, so theres a 10p pice sive hole in that... the down pipe isnt bolted up properly to the maniflod or cat either... arse!!!

i was going to get back under her and get into work late... but decided against it as i really didnt want to get soaked through twice in 2 hours, have a second shower then get ready for work.. so just said balls to it and drove in. i guess i know what im doing tonight now :( only good thing is where im on antibiotics atm i cant drink neways... so im not missing out on anything

damn i wrote alot! thought i would give you guys a friday morning giggle at my expense! :(

AAHHH the joys of mechanicin in the elements, have done a fair bit of it myself you cant rush things thats when these things happen.

But top marks for even bothering to tackle it in the first place.

THATS DEVOTION FIR YE.

Scotty.

Hopefully its not raining later (I cant see outside as I'm nowhere near a window at work :( ) as I'm gonna tackle servicing Tina (the new name for my car apparently) later on this evening... oh the joys...

the preferable mechanics in the elements are sun, lots and lots of sun, bbq and beer :)

its sunny here now and pretty damn nice, just hope it holds long enough to dry my clothes out (they are on the line, i put them there while it was still raining) and have enough time to get the rest of the exhaust sorted... shouldnt take more than half hour, hardest part will be lining the back box up right

she does sound rough though atm :( and ive got to go into town in a mo aswell :(:(

a pat on the back from me there, that was very brave of you to do that Andy, and very devoted there too :)

Bravo, why settle for less

You're nuts Andy :)

The rain and lightning woke me up this morning. Didn't want to get out of bed, let alone crawl under a wet car!

You know, I started reading this and thought "Jesus, not another gearbox!".
However, having got to the end - ROFLMFAO!!! You numpty! That gave me a cracking chuckle mate although I bet you were cursing this morning. Let's face it, we've all done it and it's character building. Nice of you to post about it on here to brighten our day though. :)

I think the answer is absolutely crazy, but totally loveable ;)
