We need a gaming section of the forum, not just one thread, a whole section with subsections of consoles etc would be cool.
Maybe even have some reviews in it.

if you look here you can see im doing a pretty good job of getting the 360 forumers together but having a dedicated section would be good for different platforms. and a review section for games so they can be rated! get a ff gaming community going!

and i know someone who would hapily moderate it....me :D

exactly, games are for kids with pale skin and no friends. :p
Games are my living and I also play them, I get out a lot and have quite a few friends :D :p

Check out the 360 forums and one thread in particular shows that the age of gamers has expanded and people of all ages and descriptions play them, ranging from very young players like 2 right up to 80 years old or even older.
Most common age seems to be mid 30's.

EDIT : I think Ben is a gamer IIRC ? or is it that he's just game ?

I agree here, I worked for sony playstation for 3 years and was in a perfect position to study the demographics of gamers - nowadays its the 30 somethings that have over taken the tweenies as the main market, mainly because we can afford to lay out £40 on a game, whilst most kids cant afford that kind of cash, plus we can afford to have one of each of the consoles when they come out - my personal gaming setup is an xbox, 360, n64, ps2, gameboy, DC, a few pcs, and a 42" projector to play them on. Cant see many kids affording that lol

As for a gaming section etc I think it might be a bit too much. The main problem with a lot of forums is that they over load with too many sections which makes it hard on the eye and hard to navigate. This one is a prime example. The information is there and im finding it invaluable but its simply too sprawling and badly laid out. Personally I tend to stick to a 3 or 5 forum rule with my sites, it increases the stickiness, my traffic remains nice and high and people find it easy to find what they want and when they want it

How would you propose that Fiat Forum sticks to a 3 or 5 forum rule with so many models to cover?

im not talking an amazing big section with flashing lights. i just want an area maybe within ll. all the different consoles/pc would be within the same forum with stickies at the top to show the forumers usernames for each console. and have any game discussions underneath using the console name somewhere in the title.

I was about to post the same :D

As for a gaming forum, it's not seen so favourably, though possibly could be added as a sub forum of the LL (along with Computing as we seem to get a lot of issues with that) - you wouldn't get a console each though ....

if thats true it would explain why so many 30 somethings lack social skills (and a tan), they wasted their youth watching mario eat mushrooms and now many years later they're isolated from the outside world. their only choice is to keep playing games because the warm glow of the screen is all they have to comfort them. lol

its not about money, games cost a fortune when the nes & megadrive was used by schoolkids, they're probably relatively cheaper now. its about game geeks been unable to interact with other humans because people dont have buttons or a manual with cheats in.

Any links then?

Yes it must be difficult finding the information you need on ICE in the ICE section, information on fixing the leak on your punto in the punto section.

We should bang it in one section as that would be far easier for everyone to find the information they need (y)

the majority is in favour :D tbh all i think we need is one section to cover all consoles and i guess could even share it with pc issues? would be nice to have them separate but if it means we get one then (y) (y)

i really would like to moderate it (start at the bottom eh) but im sure it would make more sense being done by polecat or sammi!

come on ben you know you want to ;)
