Anyway so where do I stand? Can I tell them tuff, I won it and I want it?

Many thanks. Jon.

EDIT; I haven't replied to the seller yet, came here first. It's not something I must have, but at the price if easy enough I will persue it to get it if I can.

Jon.

The guy is a total prat, a waster. I would walk away from this & give the idiot the neg he deserves. I would also report to ebay for fee avoidance, refusing to sell, breaking contract and anything else you can find.
Also, what plate are you buying? the listing isn't very clear.
Are you buying B10 HUM or
Are you buying BIG HUM?
If the plate is B10 and he is suggesting you can alter it to read B1G then you can be in for all sorts of problems - it is illegal to tamper with reg plates/to make them read something they are not.

Plate is B10 HUM, I emailed him when the auction was running for more details, cos the listing was poor, and it's on a retention cert. So would only in theiroy be another £25 to DVLA for change of ownership and its mine

I was going to put it on the car as is should be, B10 HUM, or sell is at BIO HUM, because the 1 wouldn't really need to be adapted, because from a distance it would read BIO HUM.

:yeahthat: It's tossers like him that mean that because im newish to ebay my paypal funds are frooze until either positive feedback has been left or 28day have passed which is pissing me right off as I have nearly £300 waiting to clear now :bang: and I NEED IT!. And the buyers have just disappeared it seems despite the goods being signed for  :bang:.

You're welcome.
BTW, if you want some fun
B10 FUN ?
I'd also report him to DVLA for even suggesting that you can alter the plate in such a manner. His listing quite clearly suggests the 0 can become a G:devil:

I know, I mean a 1 can look like an i without addaption but a 0 to look like a G, I mean WTF lol.

OK, I know the listing was for B10 but in all honesty, the seller was pushing it as BIG - judging by the additional pics he'd used.

One other thing, IMO, personalised plates can be a bit of a millstone.
What if you inadvertantly upset another driver ? (easy to do these days without even realising it)
Most people would thing "tawt in the old panda..."
Whereas changing the plate "Big hum eh? I'll remember that one"
Even if they forget, seeing the plate again might jog memories (and sometimes people remember things worse than they were).
Not saying that's always the case but easier to remember being cut up by LO05ERS than whatever the original plate was.

legally he is contracted to sell you that plate for the auction end price. an auction is legally binding for both parties. in reality there are several ways he can avoid the sale, for example he can say the item is lost and the auction is then null and void with no need to offer any proof that it is lost. he can then relist it later when it is magically found.

i wouldnt pursue it personally, but i would leave negative feedback to warn future bidders that this seller is a pooeater.

Difficult to lose the rights to the plate though. Even if you've lost all the documentation it's a simple letter to DVLA and you've got a new one.

I'd email him saying you won the auction at the advertised price, and he should chalk this one down to experience. If he as issue with this - then he should take it up with Ebay.

Looks like his first go at selling and made a mistake, dodgy as to me. He's got 4 feedback all from the same ebayer, only ever buying stuff.

I think you should push this as the plate being yours - he's made a mistake you shouldn't suffer for it ;)

Hi all, thanks for all your reply's.

So the consensos(sp?) is to go for trying to get it at that price then, I mean if all else fails I can leave -ve feedback and won't have lost anything, and it's not as though the tit can leave -ve for me :p

So Should I email them say, sorry mate, I won the plate fair a square, I've just sent you the payment, job done. Or should I make eBay directly aware of it first?

Anyone got a good email template

Jon.

Try something along the lines of:

To (toss pot) (his name here),
Regarding the winning bid of the item (item name here) I am writing to inform you that I will require the item at the winning value of (value here) which was made by myself.

May I just remind you that when you are selling an item on Ebay.co.uk and when you successfully sell the item you have entered into a legally binding contract, which will fully stand up in a court of law. Therefore, for any reason you have made a mistake in the sale of the item you must sell the item in question for the winning bid value.

I will be sending this message to eBay so they are fully aware of my situation. I have sent payment by (method here) and I am expecting delivery of the item I have won with all relevant paperwork included.
