General Alternator warning sign

Hi/

New to the Forum.

I have a 54 plate 1.6 stilo. Over the last couple of weeks the Alternator Fail Warning sign has come on. It appears only to happen when I am not accelerating. The alternator is working as the local garage has checked it and the battery is new.

Where should I start?

Sounds like it might be charging, but not correctly, if only comes on at idle, could be a diode in the charger failing.

I also notice that the idle fluctuates as well. I have checked the charge to the battery and it reads between 12.84 - 13.45 with the alternator light on and when under acceleration 13.08 to 13.80 volts.
