Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a new set of alloys and wheels for my 2005 Punto Active. I've been looking at 15" and 17" ones. I'm inclined to go for the 17" ones, as Halfords have some nice ones at the moment at reasonable prices.

Any recommendations when it comes to alloys & wheels?

What do I need to look out for and can anyone post some pics of their alloys & wheels so i can see how the Punto looks with 17" alloys :)

Thanks

17" is a bit extreme for the Punto in all cases but extreme styling. The tyres you would need for 17x7 wheels are 195/40 R17, which look like costing a minimum of £80 fitted, valved and balanced per corner.

Ride quality will be comprimised and your suspension will be headed for an early grave too. If it is performance you are after, many forum users recommend 15".

Right thanks Mike, appreciate the advice. Looks like I'll be opting for 15" then, I do like 17" but if it's going to compromise my suspension and general driving it's not worth it I guess.

i would highly reccomend either keeping if you already have or getting your self a set of standard sporting alloys and refurbing them in either black or anthracite. looks mint and dont lose ride comfort or performance and still look mint.

You recommend these in 15" aswell then m8?

That is a good suggestion, eliminates all the Fiat fitment headaches, which can end up being expensive. The sportings were 15" right? If so, then 185/55 R15 tyres will fit. For £260 fully fitted, you can have Yokohama s.drive tyres all round which I really rate.

Even considering looks alone, 15" alloys with a little lowering will look considerably better than 17" at the standard ride height.

i agree 100% and yes they are 15" with 185/55 tyres on will aslo fit 195 tyres. yes for looks alone they look better in the arches when lorwered and when not. stops the tractor effect :D

this is what they are like in black (just refurbed mine)

Very nice, I'll look into this. I'm not a car buff by any stretch so don't really know what I'm doing. Any work I need doing, I'll have to take it to a garage :(

Thanks fellas :)

Stick around these forums for long enough and that will soon change. There is no such thing as a daft question. Well, except;

"Will this Max Power universal induction kit from Argos fit my Punto?":bang:

Then that is a silly question, to which the answer is yes, but a recommendation would certainly be no.

I wish you the best of luck finding 15" sporting wheels. Pictures are compulsory once you have them fitted :D

Mike

East Hull m8, I live in the Leads Road area near Stoneferry where the big B&Q is :)

That goes without saying, when I get round to getting them fitted and finding the ones I want, I'll post some shiny pictures :)

Agreed with Mike, I believe 16" is the most you should go, it looks reasonable, not too big, still handles well and room for lowering.
