Weld it to the glass ;)

Doesn't it come with a nice bit of double sided sticky tape?!

Yep, it does. I tried it with the recommended three bits and it fell off, so I tried 5, and it fell off, so I tried it with 8 and it fell off. I'm thinking adding the last one isn't gonna make much difference so it's currently wedged between the dash speaker and the windscreen but it distorts my moosic aaaaagggggggggghhhhhhh.

i would say use double sided sticky tape too, use quite a bit, that will hold it in place.........for a few minutes.

make sure you clean the glass first too, but you probally already did that (with white spirit).

I did - I used nail varnish remover then left it to dry a couple of hours. Stuck it on. Left it overnight. Drove to work and it fell off halfway. Bah. Might try double sided tape though, gotta be better than the little pad things.

DOuble sided sticky tape can be a bit too good, start off with very small amounts (seriously!). We used to use it to hold together MDF block models in my GCSE days and separting once too much had been used was practically impossible despite using serious tools! It always suprised me, it's sticky tape, not glue!

Not sure about how good it is when bonding aluminium to glass however but you can always add more...!

Always be careful using a highly volatile liquid (doesn't really count with nail polish remover but moving up to white spirit or meths it matters) because of a massive temp difference when it evapourates, the glass can in theory crack.

Best of luck sticking it on. :)

You've never used cheap nail varnish remover have you? Silly question :I. It's pretty harsh and yep, does cause you to go as cold as meths when you get it on your hands.

Really?! Be careful then. No, not a heavy varnish remover user, cheap or expensive!

I remember being in a science lesson in year 8 with a very interesting and clever young teacher who was a bit crazy in how he acted sometimes! He had ethanol, remember being in year8 i thought all things in chemistry burnt you away once making contact, and said stick out your hand. Of course I did, then he poured it over me, it is a very odd feeling to have it on my hand but funny and taught me that alcohols aren't exactly like acids!

my one came with little bits of sticky silicone stuff.. not tape... did the job great but i stuck it too high up the first time so i took it off and then stuck it lower and it refused to stick again so im buggered... the tax disk is now stuck to the windscreen with selotape

Warm glass with the car heater for a bit. Then use three of the gel pad things and hold it onto place. Now wedge something there to hold it in place overnight. Car cools down, glue sets... voila...

Well, it worked for me... :)

mine just managed to stick with the things you get first time, after i cleaned the window of course, Steve, i used to think the same as you changed my mind now though think they are pretty cool as long as you dont go over the top with other alloy stuff

if there's room between the arch and wheel its not low enough!

No I don't have much tacky alloy stuff on there and the car IS silver so I don't think it's too much to have matching tax disc holder. I mean it's better than the dealership one it came with :I. Or should I go for the skint student option and just stick it onto the windscreen with sticky backed plastic a la Blue Peter?
