General Aircon Fault ??????????? HELP

While out yesterday, this appeared on the display 'AIRCON FAULT' my climate control ceased and also the outside temp now only shows 2 (--) dashes.

Can anyone suggest what might be going on? How to fix it please?

Note: if you use the fan switch (1 - 2 - 3 - 4 ) all work ok but the 'AUTO' won't.

Check that all the connexions to the drivers door mirror are good as the temperature sensor ( thermistor ) is the little button like object protruding from the bottom of the mirror. These rarely fail ( although they go open circuit if they do ) but the connexions have been known to go high resistance so a clean of all contacts may sort out your problem.

Thanks Peat, I'll try that.

Thinking about it, I changed the drivers door mirror at about the same time, so there could be a connection (or lack of one haha)

The mirror I had put on was a 7 pin connector (mine are 9) so strange things were happening with the mirror movement . I never noticed the climate control until later and didn't add 2 and 2 together properly, shoulda come out 5 sholdn't it
Put the old mirror back on today and all is ok again.
