Hello everyone, just joined the Forum. I have recently bought a 97 Marea weekend 1.6 16v ELX Auto. having looked at some of the threads on the site, it would seem that the airbag warning light coming on is a common problem. Mine comes on when ign is turned on, goes out for a few seconds then comes back on permanently. Does anyone have the definitive solution to the problem?. I note in some of the postings the passenger airbag wiring is suspected, but I'm fairly sure I don't have a passenger airbag in my vehicle.
a fiat dealer can diagnose the airbag system (£65) and then quote you for the repair. then a couple of days after repair the light comes back on and eventually after a few more trips back to the dealer (costing at least £65 per visit) you give up and live with it, and fantasize about hurting the staff.
Thanks for the advice guys, I think JUG has got the right idea, I may just have to live with it.
It raises another question however, would the car fail MOT with the light on?:bang:
............ ....yep the airbag system is there to prevent injury to yourself in a accident, forget the money in getting it sorted that shouldn't matter!
