Hi All,

I have just had the airbag light come on permanently.
Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Thanks in advance

Ideally a good code read to avoid throwing money in the wrong direction.
Could be a seat occupancy sensor or connector plugs to them.
Could be a steering wheel "squib" clock spring or none of the above, so always diagnose first.:)

In all cases of our "B" showing the Airbag light it has been due to the under seat connector associated with passenger occupancy and the seat belt pre-tensioner system.

This error can be diagnostic kit reset or the airbag ECU may clear the fault indication if after a number of engine drive cycles the fault is no longer present. This auto clear is present in many modern engine ECUs but I suspect the "B" airbag TRW ECU does not have this ability.

I have managed to clear the airbag light using multiscan diagnostic tool. It said the fault was intermittant power loss.
I will see if it comes back but for now it is ok

The diagnostic tool didn't pin point the area of the fault?
Usually a good one will do and make life easier to fix it.
It could be the connection under the seats as if the seat is moved it is common as a fault to affect it.

It probably was the underseat connector as the wife has a tendancy to slam the seat back when she gets out of the car.
I will wait and see if it recurs and then take appropriate action

Hi and congrats on fixing the notorious airbag light problem... Would you be able to expand a bit on what diagnostic kit you used, which of the multiple sockets you connected it to under the glovebox and anything else you've done please? I'm lost and cannot get any connection or even the right set of connectors it seems... I'm beginning to wonder if every third Barchetta that left the factory was different in some way to the previous two ;-). Thanks in advance.

All our issues were with 95%+ driver's side seat pre-pensioner / occupancy connect under the seat and 5% on the passenger side.

I re-routed the cables both sides so they do not come out of the floor mat but come up by the cross member. I don't think we have had a problem since then. However to do this you need cut the floor mat. I'll see if I can find my original post which was all about water ingress under the rear floor covering.
