Technical  Reversing Light

I found out today that my bro who lives some miles away has a panda, but doubt he is the op ?

I was wondering who had visited whilst we were out ?

Hi All,
Thgank you all for your thoughts and advice.
I have just run an earth wire direct from the battery and connected it to the black wire and it still doesn't work, so I have run a 12v supply direct from the battery and connected it to the white wire terminal in the plug and the light works. So it is the live 12v freed that is faulty.
From the battery at the end of my temporary feed I get 12.8V but on the 12v feed to the light I only get 12.15V so I am assuming I have a bad connection somewhere.
I would think that the most likely place is on the gearbox connection.
Can anybody tell me where to look for this gearbox switch. I have found a 2 wire plug on the front of the gearbox behind the air filter housing, is that it?

I have run an earth direct from the battery and the lamp still doesn't light, so the fault is on the 12v side.
I then ran a 12v supply direct from the battery and the lamp lit using the original earth. That confirms that I am not getting enough power to light the lamp from the 12v supply to the reversing light.
Next I located the gearbox switch and disconnected that. I shorted out the 2 contacts in the plug and the lamp came on, so the gearbox switch must be faulty.
I will buy a new switch and hopefully that will cure my problem.

Thanks everybody for your input, much appreciated

Have run an earth direct from the battery and it made no difference. So ran a 12v feed from the battery to the light unit and it worked.
So I then found the gearbox switch and shorted it out. The reversing light came on, so it looks as if the switch is faulty.
I have ordered a new switch and will report back when I have changed it.

I assume it is just a case of unscrewing the old one and screw the new one in.

Am I likely to lose gearbox oil as I remove it?

And here is a photo of it on my Punto. And ground cable connected to the gearbox in the right and little behind.
