Technical Air con probs

I need help with the air con on my Hymer LHD motorhome 2006, based on a 2.8jtd 244 chassis. Pressing the button in the cab to start it, most times it does not come on. The rare occasion the button lights up and it comes on, it drops out after a few seconds. It was refilled 1 year ago. I have checked fuses each side of the dashboard, they are all ok. I suspect a dodgy relay, but where to find it, and then test it. Is there a pressure switch protecting the system against loss of refrigerant? Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

almost certainly..,
get the system pressure tested 1st,
then worry about function,

you should be able to trigger the compressor from a laptop - as long as it's not disabled by low system pressure

Thanks for that tip. The van is due for a service and I will get a pressure test on the system.

Hi. Had a similar problem with my air con, turned out to be a seized radiator fan.
When the air con is switched on the fan should run otherwise it will shut down after a minute or so to protect itself from overheating.
I found the a/c would still work if I was moving above 30mph,I guess it would then get enough air flow to keep it cool.
