Air con gone haywire

Hi Everyone, Fiat Stilo Estate (Dynamic 06)

Looking for advice re aircon / heater which has completely lost the plot !. Blowing hot one side and cool the other (this varies from side to side) also sometimes completely steams all the windows up when first switched on ! Horrible smell sometimes and feels like it is blowing out damp air on ocassions ........ ? ! Oh and not to mention it makes me sneeze regularly. I have tried resetting it by pressing both control buttons simutaneously (this was a previous recommendation which worked at first but now dosen't seem to). Best go to the garrage is my first thought then a gripping feeling comes in my stomach as I remember previous vists to the garrage ...... . Can anyone recommend an HONEST / GOOD place or person or indeed any form of life to fix the problem ?. I live in Portobello in Edinburgh and willing to travel.

sounds as if it need a bit of attention.. BUT , is there a little dome in the middle of dash - next to windscreen..??

this is a sensor for the climate,
make sure it's not covered over.. or look damaged,

apart from that look in the Garages section for a recommendation..,

or look an FiatScotland too,:idea:

Thanks Charlie. I have checked the sensor and its ok - just check out the garages section and see if I can get any joy there. I am still not exactly sure about my way around the forum so these tips are great thanks alot.

Hi Everyone,

Just a wee update on my crazy aircon. I left it on full at maximum temperature without selecting aircon i.e just the heater and allowed it to completely steam up the entire car in effect (I left all the doors and windows open). I am not sure whether that cleared anything or not but now it is working on heater only (No aircon icon) and both sides blowing hot ........... so far ......... Will plod on with this meantime and see how it goes. According to the garage I need to find a specialist garage to repair it and there were lots of grunts and groans to the effect it would be a "big job" and not easy ? !. Enough said and hopefully spring is on the way
