Hello everyone,

Happy Holidays !

I have 2013 Panda Lounge, -
Got meself an aftermarket Single DIN CD stereo with Bluetooth option -
for X'mas !

-
No problem with fitting the stereo into me Panda - Plug n Play !
-
The stereo switched on and came on okay. It works
-
But... soon as I turn the ignition key and have the car engine running, the stereo system goes OFF & ON, Blinking / Flashing - and it won't stop
-
I had to disconnect the ISO power connector to reset.
-
What did I do wrong ?
Faulty stereo system ?
Faulty wires ?
Faulty ' Ground wire ' ?

Please..Please need advise.

I made a short video of the fault, -
but this forum won't allow me to attach the VIMEO weblink

Thank you all in advance

Hello the Pretender,
I'm Sorry - I just read your post.
Im not familiar with a CANBUS system.
What is CANBUS system ?
Is there a way to go around the CANBUS system ?

Much appreciated
Chris

There's a description of the CAN bus system on the link above. As far as I can tell you can buy adapters that will make a 3rd party device comply or fool the system. I wouldn't know what kind of adapter would be needed for your Panda though. Maybe somebody else will know.

For PandaIndo...

CANbus is the computer system that operates most of the electrical devices in the car (used on many makes, not just Fiat). Instead of each item having a switch that turns power on or off, there is a computer that receives a low-current instruction from the pressing of a switch and which then sends power to whatever was being asked to come on. This means fewer big wires, less complex wiring loom and more 'intelligence' in the way things work. (such as turning off the power to the inside light after 15 minutes). It also checks that the lightbulbs are all OK (by sensing power going through them... this is why aftermarket LED bulbs may not work in a CANbus car) You may also see it called the 'body computer' . It is part of the 'unit' that the fuses inside the car (back of glovebox) are in and which most of the car's power circuits are connected to.

For the radio, the CANbus computer is programmed to only allow the originally-fitted OEM radio to be turned on because it has been 'paired' with the computer. This is a security system which means that radio won't work in any other car if it gets stolen. Your problem is that your new, non OEM radio is not being recognised by the computer, so it keeps cutting the power to it. Either you need the computer to be reprogrammed to recognise your new radio, or you need to fool it.

...or you run a dedicated (fused!) power and ground wire straight from the battery, if you don't need or can't use any connectivity between the car and headunit (steering wheel controls, display).

Thank you all !!

Thank you, ' MicG for the WIKI link on CANbus

Thank you ' Herts Hillhopper for the in depth info about CANbus -
I'm not so savvy about how to re-program any CANbus system,
Neither If I dare to ask a FIAT dealer the cost upon programing such system.

Perhaps, I will go with ' Candisa's suggestion

If you go for the "F this, I'm running seperate power"-route, get a universal ISO plug, connect the red and yellow together on the +, and the black on -.
You can pretty much forget about the rest if you don't install amps or anything, but do tape the wires individually or remove them completely from the plug.

The speaker part can simply be adapted the way you probably already have it, in simple cars like most Fiats, those pins go straight to the speakers without any systems in between to cause trouble.

Thank you Candisa !
I will see what ISO connector and clips I would need to do the job.
