Hello

My car stalled again when starting the engine, this is now happening once a week. This has now affected the gear shift notification on the display too. I did a topdon carpal Diagnostic scan the other day and came back with no issues. Anyone have a vague idea of what could be the issue.

It's a 1.2 Petrol Panda Pop. Thank you.

Unless yours is an automatic?
Recently I had a 2014 Vauxhall Combo 1.3MJ (Fiat Doblo) that would stall at the bottom of the hill every morning, nothing showed on a basic diagnostic tool, but when I used my friends Snap On it mentioned a clutch pedal position sensor fault and when I got my head up under the dash board part of it had broken off.
I was entirely convinced as it would only do it on that first stop at bottom of hill using clutch and brake, however a new sensor and cured the problem for £30.;)

No it's a manual

On that sensor there is an arm that sits over a pin on the clutch pedal and it should follow the movement of the pedal, but as mine had broken off it spring loaded to one postion only.
If you should find it broken and want to fit it, have a good look at the operation of the new one before installing, you only need a small flat screwdriver to push back the holding clip and pull of the connection wiring plug, but the piece that sits over the pin on pedal needs releasing once it is installed from memory.:)

Easy to find if am not an expert?

Remember that any scanner app can only scan for things controlled by an ECU (electronic control unit). Not all causes of stalling are…

As to which app? The only one that reliably works in a Fiat is MultiECUscan: see https://m.gendan.co.uk/mes_chooser.php

A version for a PC/laptop is a ‘pay once, use forever’. The iPhone version is a £50 a year subscription. Not sure if there is an Android version. Note that only certain plug-in OBD readers work - the website lists these too.

Very true, it was more for the OP to see if clutch pedal sensor was an issue without climbing under the dash as I found the Snap On tool was able to give that sort of detail where basic diagnostic tools such as the one he had were unable, for that sensor problem.:)
