Technical After Oil Change, Oil Indicator comes on

Can anyone help?

I have Brava sx100 1.6 auto

I had oil and filter change done at kwik fit. Few weeks later, everytime I start the car, the oil indicator stays on for about 20 to 30 seconds, then goes off. I noticed this only happened when I start the car after not using it for a while.

But now it getting worse. The indicator goes off then comes back on and off when I'm driving around.

Any ideas where the problem is?

Have you actually checked the oil levels yourself? Would be a start. If its low then more than likely the dipsticks at kwikfit never tightened your sump plug or oil filter properly. Worth a look.

I take it this the red oil pressure light, rather than a level light.

Have you noticed a loss of oil during your weekly checks?

If you have not lost any oil then I would have a look at the oil presure switch on the engine block, make sure the electrical conector is not loose, many years ago I had a Fiat 127 Sport that did this stangly enough it was after an oil change as well done by me, so I knew every thing was tight, had loads of presure as you could see the oil flying around inside the rocker through the filler cap, turned out to be the presure switch had gone Hits up on it, bought a new switch, oil light went out, problem solved!
Wifes Renault did the same? because when I removed the filter the oil presure switch is very close, and I must of pulled on the cable a bit getting the filter off, so it was making an intermitent conection - oil presure light on and off, pushed the conector back on fully, light out!
Wouldn't drive it though till you are sure you DO have presure, other wise good bye to top end at the very least!
