It looks like I over engineered it.

I recently bought a filter from eBay for the 146 (which seems to be an identical ventilation plant) as the picture showed it in a frame, which looked like it would fit the intake, above the fan.

However, when it appeared; it was just a large filter, like an air filter, about the size of a piece of A5

Interesting subject. I orderered a part shown on Eper for the Tipo. As you can see it is designed to hold a cartridge filter and appears to resemble the equivalent hole in the scuttle. However annoyingly the unit is too high to fit in the space available !

Thanks for your help with this. Mine was part 4641214 so different again. It wasn't cheap so rather than risk it I may look for one off a scrap alfa 156 as they look to have the same arrangement and there are still some about.

They're far from being cheap.
When mine needs a new filter I'll make one to that pattern, it will be easier than the one I made.

Those guys in Argentina fabricated that from galv steel. Looks like a piece of electrical trunking lid.

Of course and I've discovered how to remove and refit it easily.
The top comes out last, but goes in first.

I think I'm going to try for a filter frame that drops inside the mouth of the intake.

I need a good morning with access to metalwork stuff at work, but with the car scuttle panel removed at the same time.
I've had some major clear outs in that area before- in Scotland; you don't want the leaves and damp collecting in that spot. I taped up the intake aperture whilst washing it all out.
The 146 & Tipo are identical in this respect...

Over complicated and harder to seal off.
The Argentinian method is much simpler and does the job.
