Panda The old and the new

Our old Cross in the background and it's replacement in the foreground. 😁👍
When we bought 'Wee Oui' the sellers told us it needed some work due to an apparent problem under load.

A quick plug in diagnostic revealed faults with the EGR and the Air Flow, I know many people just blank off the EGR and get the system remapped, but it wasn't a route that we wanted to go down.

New EGR ordered, sadly we found that the EGR cooler was damaged so managed to find a s/h one on the bay of evil.

Air flow swapped off the old one and EGR replaced, the car now runs an absolute dream.

The Mrs has only driven it briefly for an hour but loves it, though she is missing her panoramic roof although the full climate control and ice cold aircon should help next summer.

Have discovered a slightly annoying suspension knock to the nearside rear so that's the next job.

I love the M-Jet engine. I hate the poor engine access. The engineers seemed to be looking for ways to make stuff hard to reach.

If the engine ever needs any major work (cam chain, valves, head gasket) remove the whole lump from the car. It sounds horrendous, but Ive done the cam chain (and head) both ways and working in the car is a nightmare. It's overall much easier to take the engine out.

The knock is probably the shocker bushes
Correct, very likely

When they are bad enough you can reach round the back of the wheel and push and pull on the shock, without out jacking the car or removing anything

Wiggle the exhaust while your there also

I fitted polybushes to the rear shocks on my 4x4 after replacing the bushes twice with standard…you can’t get them separate from the shockers from Fiat, so just measured/compared sizes with a pack of spurious ones
